Taylor Swift calls Spotify a “start-up with no cash flow”

Taylor Swift’s well-publicised dislike of Spotify has been given another boost.

This time, Swift has labelled the streaming giant a “start-up with no cash flow”. In an interview with Vanity Fair, she compared her experiences with Spotify to Apple Music’s decision to reverse their royalty payment stance, after she posted an open letter.

“Apple treated me like I was a voice of a creative community that they actually cared about,” she said. “And I found it really ironic that the multi-billion-dollar company reacted to criticism with humility, and the start-up with no cash flow reacted to criticism like a corporate machine.”

Speaking about the letter itself, she says she was hesitant to put it out. “I read it to my mom… She’s always going to be the one. I just said, ‘I’m really scared of this letter, but I had to write it. I might not post it, but I had to say it.’”
