We knew she was trouble

Taylor Swift has trademarked a bunch of her song lyrics

It looks like getting down to this sick beat in 1989 could end up costing you a lawsuit.

Taylor Swift has trademarked a bunch of her song lyrics

Anybody who was planning on printing a range of ‘Party Like It’s 1989’ aprons, or blanket throws saying ‘Speak Now’ had better think again or face getting sued. Taylor Swift’s ‘done a will.i.am’, and now she’s trademarked a bunch of her song lyrics. View the the full swiftstake of trademarks that she’s snapped up here.

This could be bad news for Kero Kero Bonito, and their banging tune ‘Sick Beat’. And as for Daniel Radcliffe, Jason Derulo, and other people unfortunate enough to share a birth date of 1989 with T.S (also trademarked), they can kiss goodbye to any reference to partying that year. Phrasebooks everywhere will potentially have to have a rethink when it comes to the expression “nice to meet you, where you been?” as well.

In brighter news, this could mean there’s new 1989 themed merchandise on the horizon, and at time of writing frequently misheard ‘Blank Space’ lyric “all the lonely Starbucks lovers,” is still very much up for grabs.
