The 1975 nearly gave ‘The Sound’ to One Direction
Earlier in the year, Matt Healy question their “artistic credibility.” Ooh-er.
The 1975’s massive, radio-smashing single ‘The Sound’ was nearly given to One Direction, frontman Matt Healy has revealed.
In a new interview with Q, the outspoken bloke’s admitted to joining the band in the studio, after rumours began spreading way back in 2014. “I went into the studio with them [One Direction] for a couple of hours to work on some stuff and, funnily enough, I ended up showing them ‘The Sound’ as a suggestion, but nothing came of it” he revealed. “I was asked to do it, so I thought I’d see how it all works but it just didn’t really work very well. It didn’t resonate so I thought I’d stick to my own thing.”
Earlier this year, the singer questioned the band’s “artistic credibility” in a separate interview. Sounds like it wasn’t too rosy in that studio, then.
Healy’s also been whipping fans into a frenzy of late, by hinting that The 1975 might just be releasing new music to follow ‘I Like It When You Sleep, For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It’ as soon as next year.
