The 1975 reckon they're ready to headline all the festivals

The 1975 have never been ones to hide their headliner ambitions away; during the band’s Reading set earlier in the summer, Matty Healy declared “we’re gonna come back and we’re gonna fucking headline Reading.” On the evidence of their triumphant slot, he was probably right. And now, in a new interview, Matty’s equally self-assured.

The 1975 will “headline Reading and Leeds [in 2018],” he claimed, speaking to NME, and “headline Glastonbury the year after or the year after that.”

“I mean, I haven’t got the offers yet,” he conceded. “But
I tell you now, I’m doing it. Who else is going to do it?”

The frontman also confirmed that 2018 will see a new album from The 1975. Drummer George Daniel previously hinted towards the same thing with a snippet of music, captioned 2018.

Looking back on (deep breath) ‘I Like It When You Sleep, for You Are So Beautiful yet So Unaware of It’ - the band’s second record - Matty was typically modest. “There’s fuck all wrong with the album,” he said. “Nothing. It’s perfect for me. I could spend another two years on it and maybe make it three per cent better.”

There you have it.
