The Murder Capital confirm details of third album ‘Blindness’
The Dublin-formed quintet have also shared a new single, ‘Words Lost Meaning’.

The Murder Capital are back with the news that their next album, ‘Blindness’, will be released on 21st February 2025, and have also offered up another preview of what to expect in the form of new track ‘Words Lost Meaning’.
The record will be the Dublin group’s third full-length, following their 2019 debut ‘When I Have Fears’ and its 2023 follow-up ‘Gigi’s Recovery’. Recorded in LA with John Congleton - the Grammy-winning producer who was also behind the desk for their sophomore effort - ‘Blindness’ is the product of fast-paced sessions which didn’t allow room for the band to overthink things.
Speaking about its concept, frontman James McGovern has commented: “There’s what’s in front of us, in our immediate field of vision. There are the things we can touch, the love we can feel. Then there’s everything else. Blindness is the warped belief. The behind us. The secluded. Love at a distance. Faith in denial. Distorted patriotism. The fading face of moments in the rear view. Blindness brings it all into focus.”
Having shared the project’s first single ‘Can’t Pretend To Know’ back in September, The Murder Capital have also now unveiled its second pre-release offering ‘Words Lost Meaning’ - an intense, urgent track reminiscent of Nirvana and rock contemporaries Wunderhorse, which McGovern has described as “where love goes to die”.
Elaborating, he shares: “When the words ‘I love you’ are used without thought, without feeling, even as a way to close a conversation, they become stale and diffused. No words mean more than those three combined.”
