The Murder Capital are back with inaugural 2024 release ‘Can’t Pretend To Know’
The urgent new track marks the start of the band’s fresh third chapter.

Irish five-piece The Murder Capital have returned with latest single ‘Can’t Pretend To Know’, their first new music of 2024.
Recorded in collaboration with John Congleton (St Vincent, Angel Olsen, Sharon Van Etten) in LA earlier this year, the track finds the band at their most dynamic, making a driving, determined statement of intent for their forthcoming next era.
“‘Can’t Pretend To Know’ is a whip of a tune that we made to feel like a hurricane of colour and breathlessness,” frontman James McGovern has shared. “A surreal look at childhood innocence and all its replacers, those delicate bridges we burn as we move through the strangeways of our youth. Moulded by everything we come into contact with. Learning lessons from toys. Playing the parts that are asked of us.”
What’s more, The Murder Capital have also announced a new run of UK dates for Spring 2025 (for which tickets go on sale at 10am on 27th September), following their turn supporting Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds across Europe this Autumn.
