The Shins get animated in their video for ‘Cherry Hearts’
Come for the rides, stay for the cosmic voyage…
It’s been a few months since The Shins released ‘Heartworms’, but just very recently they were on ‘The Late Late Show with James Corden’ playing one its more synth-heavy tunes, ‘Cherry Hearts’.
Well, now that track’s got a brand new video and it’s very charming. The setting is an amusement park, and it’s fair to say that some of the inhabitants look a bit surreal (especially that very angry monkey in a suit). Spare a thought for the guy taking a ride there, who gets more than he bargained for when he takes a spin on the rollercoaster just to end up in a cosmic vortex. He ends up in space and, er, plays Pong there? Didn’t realise they had Pong in space…
Oh and the charming twist? It’s all done in super-colourful animation, where everything looks like it’s been pieced lovingly together from cardboard and stationary.
Earlier in the year, we caught up with The Shins to talk about the making of ‘Heartworms’. Read the full interview here.
