Sticker stars: The Shins share a sticker-filled new video for ‘Half A Million’

Yep, a lot of stickers went into the making of the clip for the ‘Heartworms’ track.
So, any guesses as to how many stickers went into the making of this new video from The Shins? We’ll give you a clue: surprisingly, it’s not ‘Half A Million’.
Yes, a few months on from the release of their latest LP ‘Heartworms’, James Mercer and co have unveiled a new video for ‘Half A Million’. Directed by LAMAR+NIK, it follows the band as they’re animated in a variety of locations using the power of stickers. That includes drumming on a cheese and cracker spread, and being suspects in a game of Guess Who. It’s all incredibly charming.
But, any guesses as to how many stickers were used in the making of the video then? Well, to be precise there were “5,566 stickers, hand cut from the 4,868 frames and animated by sticking them down on top of each other at the 40+ locations”, according to the directors. We can’t even begin to imagine how long that must have taken them.
Earlier in the year, we caught up with James Mercer to chat about new album ‘Heartworms’. Read the full interview here.
