Verde Prato, Chlöe’s Clue & more to play The Spanish Wave showcase at The Great Escape 2025
This year’s showcase will be taking place on Friday afternoon at Horatio’s.

After their stint as lead country as last year’s The Great Escape festival, The Spanish Wave are once again bringing a host of brilliant Spanish artists to perform at the 2025 edition of the event.
While The Great Escape itself kicks off tomorrow (Wednesday 14th May), The Spanish Wave’s showcase will be taking place this Friday 16th May, at end of the pier haunt Horatio’s. What’s more, it takes place right before DIY’s own showcase, so you have no excuses to miss out!
Kicking off at midday on Friday (with a special Meet The Spaniards reception), their takeover of the venue will host performances from the likes of folk-flecked Basque artist Verde Prato, playful solo singer Chlöe’s Clue, Santander-based minimalist star Ganges and experimental act Maria Escarmiento. Check out the line-up for the showcase, and learn a little more about each of the performing artists - courtesy of The Spanish Wave themselves - below.
12.20pm: Verde Prato
Drawing from Basque oral traditions, Verde Prato (aka Ana Arsuaga) delves into folk songs and liturgical chants, reinventing them with a timeless edge through her evocative voice and electronic soundscapes that create an ethereal, mysterious atmosphere. With her debut album ‘Kondaira eder hura’ (2021), Verde Prato quickly rose in the music scene.
After three EPs and the album ‘Adoretua’, comes ‘Bizitza eztia’ (Plan B music, 2025) — or “la dolce vita” in Basque — recorded in Rome and produced together with Donato Dozzy, exploring themes like feminism, freedom, solitude and nature. Ranging from light to darkness, it is also full of sweetness and calm.
1.30pm: Chlöe’s Clue
Chlöe’s Clue – aka Raquel Adalid from Valencia, Spain – mixes childhood imaginaries and the ordinary world in an ironic and delicate way. She’s just released ‘Jolín, the first single from her upcoming EP. A naive but dark grumble revealing a new colour in the artist’s musical palette. A retro-futuristic sound crafted with acoustic guitars, synths and toys, always born from a classic, folkloric root.
The project has evolved throughout her three albums, highlighting her presence in some of the main Spanish festivals, playing in the US at SXSW, France at Silencio Club, or via the collaboration with ‘Daniel, Me Estás Matando’.
2.30pm: Ganges
Ganges is the musical project of Spanish artist Teresa Gutiérrez. With a background in classical music, her sound blends intimate electronic pop with touches of lo-fi, bedroom pop, and hyperpop, wrapped in a universe rich in Japanese cultural references. After the success of her debut ‘Dime Algo (Bonito)’ (2020) and collaborations with artists like Natalia Lacunza, Vangoura, and Yarea, she followed it up with her full-length album, ‘SORA’, in 2024.
Co-produced with Pau Corea and Bearoid, ‘SORA’ explores breakbeat, soft techno, and ASMR-like textures, building a dreamy soundscape with magnetic hooks and deeply melodic vocals
3.30pm: Maria Escarmiento
A one-of-a-kind personality, after her stint on the musical talent show, Operación Triunfo, she dove headfirst into the Spanish urban scene, collaborating with key figures and producers, creating dancefloor heartbreakers, and blending sensuality with melancholy.
Her stylistic range is diverse but cohesive; steering away from reggaeton, she has increasingly embraced pop, electronic, and hyperpop. María continues to make strides in Spain, steadily drawing the mainstream closer to her. María stands as one of the leading figures in a burgeoning female pop scene in Spain, characterized by talented, original, and groundbreaking artists.
