Thom Yorke played a secret DJ set to thirty people last weekend

A Cornwall festival played host to a secret DJ set from Radiohead’s Thom Yorke this past weekend, according to reports.

Leopallooza - a South coast entering its ninth year, with Superfood among those on the bill - allowed Yorke to arrive announced for a set on Saturday 2nd August. According to the Evening Standard, he played to just eight people at around 2.30am.

One onlooker, as quoted by the paper, said: “He’s probably the most influential artist of the past decade and here he is prepping to play to half a dozen drunk hippies.”

Nobody caught the event on ‘Videotape’, sadly.

Radiohead are currently approaching recording of their new album, the follow-up to ‘The King of Limbs’. Guitarist Jonny Greenwood recently said he and Yorke had been trading ideas over email.

Update: Organisers have since confirmed that Yorke did indeed play a set, but to thirty people, not eight. “People knew who he was, but everyone respected his right to have fun & party during his down time,” said Cai Waggett to Pitchfork. “It was purposely kept quiet until very close to his performance so as not to overshadow anything else going on at the time.”
