Tom Gabel Comes Out As Transgender, Set To Undergo Sex Change

Against Me! singer Tom Gabel has come out as transgender, and will be undergoing a sex change.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, the punk singer revealed that plans to eventually take the name Laura Jane Grace are in place.

The magazine wrote: ‘Gabel, who has dealt privately with gender dysphoria for years, will soon begin the process of transition, by taking hormones and undergoing electrolysis treatments.’

‘Gabel will eventually take the name Laura Jane Grace, and will remain married to her wife Heather.’

Speaking to the publication, Gabel explained: ‘I’m going to have embarrassing moments, and that won’t be fun. But that’s part of what talking to you is about – is hoping people will understand, and hoping they’ll be fairly kind.’

Against Me! released their latest album ‘White Crosses’ in 2010.
