Turns out Green Day are involved with the new NASA mission
No, really.
Yesterday (26th November), NASA’s InSight Mars Lander touched down on Mars, and made its entrance to the planet with a slightly surprising addition.
The rocket will probe into the planet’s core to better help scientists at NASA understand how Mars was formed, and they’re doing so with an added helping hand from….uh, Green Day.
When it was confirmed that the Lander had, well, landed, the band tweeted to confirm that, for some reason, they are connected to the mission.
“Officially landed on Mars,” they wrote. “‘Green Day Since 1986’ was etched on a chip on the @NASAInSight Mars Lander that landed at Elysium Planitia today. Out of this world.”
The band haven’t been too busy since their tour for 2016’s ‘Revolution Radio’ came to a close, but we’re glad to see they’re keeping busy.
