Vampire Weekend Name Third Album, ‘Modern Vampires Of The City’

It’s for real this time - honest.

We knew Vampire Weekend were to return this spring with an all-new album. We knew it’d be released on 6th May. We then knew - and then didn’t - what it was going to be called.

And then there was an advertisement in the New York Times

Earlier this morning, the band tweeted a link to their tumblr, with letters semi-cryptically giving the acronym MVOTC, after VW, LP III, MMXIII and XL are explained away as Vampire Weekend, album three, 2013 and XL Recordings respectively.

They followed it with one saying ‘NYT classifieds…’ - and as the helpful types at Pitchfork have posted - it shows the message ‘Modern Vampires of the City, May 7th, 2013’.

So the new Vampire Weekend album is called Modern Vampires of the City, and is accompanied by this suitably Gotham-esque artwork.

The tracklisting for the record is confirmed as the following - and yes, ‘Obvious Bicycle’ is included.

1. Obvious Bicycle
2. Unbelievers
3. Step
4. Diane Young
5. Don’t Lie
6. Hannah Hunt
