Washed Out Announces New ‘Paracosm’ Album

Chillwave is dead, but Ernest Greene isn’t. Although before this album announcement, he’d pretty much left the public consciousness. The new press release that comes with the unveiling of ‘Paracosm’ is keen on stating that Washed Out is not a chillwave project, that this guy is not a pastiche, that Toro Y Moi is not the only guy to have broken from the shackles of a deceased scene.

The follow up to ‘Within And Without’ comes out on 13th August via Sub Pop / Weird World. The announcement comes alongside a trailer, which contains kaleidoscopic images of shapes and trees. Note: not a single wave or beach-like object makes an appearance. There is also the use of a harp in the backing track. This guy’s changed, we’re being told.
