Watch: Depeche Mode Unveil ‘Heaven’ Video
The ‘Personal Jesus’ band perform in a church in new promo.
It’s not the first time that electro-goth pioneers Depeche Mode have flirted with religion, what with their instructions that we find our own ‘Personal Jesus’ all those years ago. The new video for the first cut from their thirteenth studio album, ‘Delta Machine’, finds them at it again, playing the ballad inside an old church, with a big heavenly light shining through.
Depeche Mode formed in 1980, in Basildon, and all of their previous albums have made the Top 10. The new album will be the first since 2009’s ‘Sounds of the Universe’, and their first on new label, Columbia. The album will be released on the 25th March, and followed a couple of dates at London’s O2.
The record was recorded in Santa Barbara, where Gore currently lives, and was mixed by longtime collaborator, Flood. The video for ‘Heaven’ was directed by Timothy Saccenti, who told Depeche-Mode.com that he; ‘went into meet the band and was inspired by their energy in the room, they are amazing musicians and you feel it the moment you walk in studio. I actually felt this side of them hadn’t been shown very well, so that was my main concept, show this energy… not knowing where it would take me. After filming it, the amazing editor Dayn Williams and I dedicated a large chunk of our lives carving out the film. I think we accomplished our goal on that one.’
