Father John MIDI pt. II
Watch Father John Misty serenade Spotify employees using MIDI samples
Josh Tillman’s tongue-in-cheek crusade continues.
Earlier this week, Josh Tillman visited New York’s Spotify studios for a disorienting karaoke showcase of two tracks from his new album, ‘I Love You, Honeybear’.
Yesterday Father John Misty unveiled his revolutionary new “streaming service”, SAP, which showcased his new LP in full, with the help of some extraordinary, hi-fidelity MIDI samples.
It would appear that this Spotify appearance is another feather in Tillman’s bow, where he sarcastically mocks algorithms and streaming. While performing two songs in a cheesily-lit venue, he makes Spotify employees as uncomfortable as possible and comes out with doge-like phrases such as “many many streams”. It’s like a discovered scene from The Office.
Watch Father John Misty perform ‘I Love You, Honeybear’ and ‘Bored in the USA’ below.
