Watch Janelle Monáe cover David Bowie’s ‘Heroes’ on Letterman
An 11-person band joined Monáe for a triumphant cover of Bowie’s classic.
Last night Janelle Monáe shunned the conventional route of playing songs from her new record on Letterman. Instead, she took to a big, hand-clapping cover of David Bowie’s ‘Heroes’.
Like any Monáe performance, everything was coordinated to a T. She even rolls her eyes in time with the hand movements of her backing dancers. Dressed in snazzy all-white suits, the band of 11 run through a rendition - no doubt it reinterprets the original, but it still sounds bloody huge.
Janelle Monáe’s new album ‘The Electric Lady’ is out now on Atlantic.
