Watch: Julianna Barwick Airs ‘The Harbinger’ Video
Barwick’s floaty ‘Nepenthe’ hymn finds a ghostly video to boot.

There’s a ghostly sound that graces ‘Nepenthe’, Julianna Barwick’s Iceland-rooted (not the pizza aisle of Iceland, the country) new album. Barwick’s new video for ‘The Harbinger’ now has a video to match.
Backing up the choral coos and the sparsely-laid pianos is a striking clip directed by Derrick Belcham. Initially, Barwick floats in a warm-looking sea, drifting in and out of consciousness. What follows is a dark second half, which gives hints of loss, loneliness and even death. Grim.
