Watch Sam Smith take on Tracy Chapman’s ‘Fast Car’

The chart-topping singer was at BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge yesterday.

Chart-topping soul-pop sensation Sam Smith is really rather good at singing sad songs, and it’s a well known fact that Tracy Chapman’s ‘Fast Car’ is one rather unhappy specimen.

So it probably made a lot of sense when the singer - who released Number One, platinum-selling debut album, ‘In The Lonely Hour’ in May this year - decided to cover it as part of his BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge session broadcast yesterday (3rd September).

See his alternative arrangement of the classic below.

Smith performs at Bestival this weekend, before a headline set at the iTunes Festival at the Roundhouse in London on Tuesday. He then tours the UK beginning in late October.
