Watch Sports Team play the DIY Stage at The Great Escape
Back in May, the band played the DIY Stage down in Horatio’s at the end of Brighton pier.
It may seem like a lifetime has passed since May but alas, it was not all that long ago! And what a lovely time it was too, because Team DIY once again got to head to Brighton seaside for a weekend of sun, fun and new music madness at The Great Escape.
As ever, we set up camp at the end of the pier, in the wonderful Horatio’s, and invited a bunch of the best new bands around to join in the fun. Along with the likes of Pale Waves, The Orielles, King Nun and Drahla, the always-enthralling Sports Team took to the stage, and now you relive some of their performance right here.
Speaking of their whirlwind set back in May, we said: “Where previously the London band’s schtick was all about the show – an are-they-real-or-are-they-joking mix of ludicrous shape-pulling and a man inexplicable playing a box of tic tacs – now they’ve got the songs and the musical skill to back it up. ‘Beverley Rose’ and ‘Winter Nets’ are theatrical tales of faded suburbia, while recent single ‘Ashton’ is a gloriously odd nod to the former Punk’d star. How their brains work that way we do not know. But thank christ that they do.”
Check out our clip of the band appearing at The Great Escape below - they play at London’s Scala on 19th September and tickets are on sale now.
