Watch The Walkmen Declare “This Is The End” At Their Final Ever Show
Frontman Hamilton Leithauser calls a New Orleans gig the last thing we’ll ever do”.”
The actual extent behind The Walkmen’s indefinite hiatus hadn’t been entirely wrapped up until now. To start off with, they announced an ‘extreme’ hiatus, saying maybe their situation might change along the line.
After that, they quickly knocked the ‘extreme’ part by announcing a new show at New Orleans’s One Eyed Jacks.
Last Saturday they played that show, treating it in true celebratory fashion and essentially confirming that this was, indeed, the very last show they’d ever play.
In a video of their performance below, frontman Hamilton Leithauser said the following before playing ‘We’ve Been Had’.
‘These guys are my best friends. It’s not easy to knock us down because we have like five or six final shows, right? Like we have one and then we have another and we have another and then we have another. And then we have a reunion and then we have another reunion and then we have another reunion. ‘Cause why the hell not? It’s so fun playing with these guys. These guys are the best. Anyhow, you know what? This is the end. This is the last thing we’ll ever do. But this is great. This is the first song we ever wrote together.’
