White Denim’s Bop English previews debut album with ‘Struck Matches’
There’s a spark to James Petralli’s latest cut, premiering on DIY.
If there’s any constant in James Petralli’s music - from fronting White Denim to sporting his new project, Bop English - it’s in finding unorthodox tricks with simple tools. Razor-sharp electrics and all-enveloping acoustics work a treat every time, but that doesn’t prevent from Petralli from finding something new.
‘Struck Matches’, despite carrying the staples of White Denim, sits somewhere faraway from their everyday catalogue. Petralli’s vocals splinter, flicking by at ridiculous speed and finding solace in the kind of chorus ‘Fits’ would proudly boast. It’s everything already adored, with a fresh twist.
Bop English’s ‘Constant Bop’ LP is released on 20th April via Blood and Biscuits - pre-order here.
