ZOLA BLOOD announce debut album ‘Infinite Games’ with thumping single ‘Nothing’
Every weekday, DIY’s new music know-it-all Neu brings you one essential new release to get obsessed with. Today’s Neu Pick comes from Zola Blood. London quartet ZOLA BLOOD are releasing their long-awaited debut album ‘Infinite Games’ later this year, and have teamed the announcement with the release of a thumping new single, ‘Nothing’. Building on the glorious slickness of 2014 debut EP ‘Meridian’, the new single begins with a deep, dark synth line stretched out like elastic, and comparable even to the warped, bent beats of Factory Floor. That is, until Matt West’s vocals cast a blanket over the chaos and makes things a great deal dreamier. “When we started out,” West says in a press release, “we had an idea about being minimal and not overcrowding things. I guess our mantra is ‘don’t forget the song’.” ‘Infinite Games’ is coming out on 26th May via Pond Life. Listen to ‘Nothing’ below.
