Nosferatu D2 - We’re Gonna Walk Around This City…

is a misanthropic comment on an MTV nation where life doesn’t come nearly as easy as we’re made to believe. Nosferatu D2 have put together a collection of diary-like entries backed by noisy guitar riffs, drums and woeful vocals; the album theme is one of loveless, broken relationships and the memories they leave behind.

‘Broken Tamagotchi’ and ‘A Footnote’ are full of disappointment and regret, while ‘Colonel Parker’ tries to find solace in the narcissistic things. ‘Flying Things & Pests’ exposes the facade of courage as it reminisces to a happier time; to memories that provoke small shards of hope for the future and what may be. As much as there is gut-wrenching anguish, however, there is also a romantic sense of hope and longing, with ‘Springsteen’ presenting ethereal beauty sans the vocals while the plectrum skips over the chords in the lead up to the sing-along: ‘Forest and KFC, Starbucks and Maccy D’s’.

These cynics present anecdotal raw emotion that grabs you by the collar and mutter monologues that are barely legible. There’s no flowery emotions or convoluted jargon, just irrational thoughts; the stream of consciousness from someone whose had a bit too much to drink. He’s sitting on the end of the bed, knees drawn up to his chin and thinking about the better days. The days when playing with a noose seemed so much less appealing. An emotional rollercoaster laced with blaspheme and romantic despair - you’ll either love this record or you’ll hate it.
