Westerman - A Jackal’s Wedding
4 StarsLaced in a satin-like sheen throughout, Westerman’s balmy croon is the star of the show third time around.
Ever cathartic, this third full-length from Will Westerman is an elegant, mood-filled wonder from the off. Opener ’S. Machine’ allows his shimmering falsetto to introduce itself in grand fashion, while ‘About Leaving’ ruminates in its expanse, bearing similarities with Sampha (producer Marta Salogni having also collaborated with the singer).
Elsewhere, ‘Mosquito’ drifts gloriously between indie, electronic sounds and jangly folk in a manner not unlike Amen Dunes. ‘Weak Hands’ showcases a more cinematic approach, and the more subtle, stripped-back ‘Nevermind’ proves itself an arguable standout. Laced in a satin-like sheen throughout, Westerman’s balmy croon is the star of the show third time around.
