A moody lil’ number, ‘I Saw You Walk Away’ is straight from the schools of Smith and Morrissey: melancholy with an 80’s twist.
Dark lyrics exist on top of a surprisingly comforting percussion-led backdrop, and it’s only through concentration that you actually notice quite how macabre they are.
‘If I don’t crucify myself, somebody will. If I don’t do this thing myself, nobody will.’
Effortless vocals and emotive lyrics mix well to ensure that Damon Gough shows himself to be a great talent here, despite the record’s simple nature.
The single will be available for digital download on January 11th 2011 in two bundles.
