Talk about impassioned! You can hear the heartbreak in the violin and the growl of a big man transformed into floaty flourishes at the end of each line. It is nauseous, a little bit panicked and a whole lot of desperate.
Not that it’s all about the really quite impressive snapshot of heartbreak. Underlying calls to ‘kiss me, kiss me’ while obviously being a bit narked, give the single a muscular lyrical punch before ’Lies’ dawdles into a swelling fit of stringed passion and stamping keys.
Nothing is scuzzed up, the instrumentation is still something special, and when he asks you to tell him, gosh, it’s something to feel you really should do. It’s something to really believe in.
