Brolin - Songs to Walk the Dog to
Yorkshire romantic loves his dog more than he loves you - here, he puts together tracks to soundtrack his canal walk.
Today sees the release of Brolin’s new ‘Swim Deep’ single, the starkest, most on-point realisation yet of the Yorkshire musician’s romantic leanings. His hand on heart pop’s never been the kind to dismantle or deceive - this is straight-down-the-line stuff, simple as can be without diving into typicality.
Following on from the ‘Flags’ mixtape, ‘Swim Deep’ cements a relatively subdued year for the buzzy producer. He’s spent the past few months working towards an eventual full-length, and he’s been spending any downtime with his oft-cited best mate - his dog.
Titled ‘Songs to Walk the Dog to’, Brolin’s exclusive playlist for DIY brings together canine treats - the musical kind.
He explains: “This mix collates a selection of tracks which I have been listening to recently whilst walking down by the canal. I love to walk past the ings as the sun slowly sets and the night time looms… it clears the mind of static. This is a collection of songs with a cinematic feel and a range of rhythms and tempos to provide a perfect soundtrack for my evening ambulations. I try not to reveal too much about these mixes in advance - the whole fun for the listener is hopefully discovering new things as they listen.”
