Circa Waves - Fire That Burns

The band are revved up and firing on all cylinders

You know Circa Waves, right? Nice boys, Circa Waves. ‘T Shirt Weather’ and a quick game of footy in the park. The kind of lads you could take home to meet your mum.

*ENNNNGHHHHH* (This is the sound of a klaxon signalling that everything is different now).

Not anymore because EVERYTHING IS DIFFERENT NOW.

Well, if not totally different, then certainly amped up several gears to an audible next level.

‘Fire That Burns’ - the second offering from forthcoming LP2 ‘Different Creatures’ (clue’s in the title, eh?) - is the sound of a grown up band. The hooky, ear worm melodies and festival-baiting singalongs are still present, but where debut ‘Young Chasers’ was characterised by light-spirited summer sprightliness, now the band are audibly charged and hungry.

Singer Kieran Shuddall’s lyrics fight for a tempestuous relationship fuelled by too much passion, while musically its the most direct and brooding a banger as Circa Waves have written to date.

Different Creatures, yes. But different in this case is most definitely no bad thing.
