You’ve all seen Yannis’ new shirt, right? You can’t miss it. Even if you were standing at the top of the Eiffel Tower when he and his small horse-loving chums walked past, you’d still notice it. And a man who wears something quite that loud can’t be quiet, meek, or making music to be heard from tin cans. Or even tinny laptop speakers, come to think of it.
Yes, ‘Inhaler’ is massive. It’s one thing them headlining the Royal Albert Hall (for that is what they intend to do next spring), but if the rest of ‘Holy Fire’ is as gigantic as this one, they’re shooting right past Wembley Arena to the O2. If they’ll let him in wearing that, at least.
Don’t worry, it’s still recognisably Foals, at least in rhythm; they’ve not gone all Bon Jovi on our asses. In fact, if there were an American stadium (well, ish) act to compare this to, it’s Jane’s Addiction, the empty sounds surrounding the guitars and Yannis’ sudden shriek of a vocal aren’t a million miles away from Perry, Dave and co.
We can’t wait for the album.
