After gaining deserved recognition with ‘NYC Moves Around To The Sound Of L.A.’, Funeral Party pick up where they left off with storming new track, ‘Just Because’. Coming in at just under four minutes, the song delivers a maelstrom of erratic guitars and visceral vocals, all tied together with an unavoidably catchy synth beat.
Defiance and teenage rebellion are the themes that bounce through this track; themes that are brought to life in the raw, guttural vocals of Chad Elliot. With the arrival of the chorus comes an insurgence of sheer noise that’s mirrored in the simplistic repetition of the phrase “just because” - each more disobedient than the last.
A quick Internet search for need to know info on Funeral Party throws up several appearances on various lists of ‘bands-to-watch’. However, unlike many of their peers, this L.A. trio have something special that makes them stand out: the eclectic blend of dirty, electro rock showcased in this latest single is hopefully just a hint of what’s to come.
In short Funeral Party are really very good and are surely set for exciting things. Why? ‘Oh just because, oh just because, oh just because…’
