Funeral Party - New York City Moves Around To The Sound Of LA

Shouty vocals, thumping drums and ripped through guitar.

As soon as Funeral Party’s ‘New York City Moves Around To The Sound Of LA’ begins it sounds like a song from a Hannah-Barbara soundtrack, which is more amazing than it sounds.

To be fair the Hair-Bear Bunch vibe does get hammered away quickly with some shouty vocals, thumping drums and ripped through guitar. Once the chorus kicks in there is A LOT OF NOISE which doesn’t have much discernable lyrical message, but does have one hell of a riff.

With a driving energy which makes you want to jump on your bed in a fit of faux teenage angst, this single has a quirky rock’n’roll touch which is often imitated but rarely pulled off with such finesse as this.

The breakdown towards the end of the song holds a torch for the Rapture or LCD Soundsystem, with snare drums and cowbells in hand. It’s a song you won’t forget in a hurry.
