Forget the pop charts. Forget the sometimes cringeworthy lyrics of her last single, Ida Maria is still that way cute woman with the awesomely fuzzy demos. She’s just turned the volume up to make some proper pop stompers.
A game of vocal-tag, her man-backing trying to keep up with the pace, ‘Oh My God’ is probably her out and out highlight. Coming together for a bawling blend of scaling guitars and undulating vocal chords at points, drifting into anti-key change softness at others, it rollicks, rolls and generally sounds as fine as a purely pop mess can.
Shouty faces to the [bedroom] dancefloor, hands in the air, pull on hair, shake hips, repeat. It’s exhausting but oh my god, is it worth it.
