Is Tropical. Is Tropical? Is Tropical! While we’ve struggled with the emphasis on the band name, the afore thrice mentioned London three piece have been tinkering away on a new single - their first for Kitsune.
Without crushing too many dreamboats, ‘South Pacific’ has nothing to do with the musical of the same name. Instead we’re swimming in a sea of sweeping synths and quietly crashing beats. It’s an ocean, see?
Striking a balance in between lo-fi pop and swooning electronica, it’s all very lovely stuff. Possibly too lovely - in the right setting, with the right frame of mind, ‘South Pacific’ could be practically perfect. Elsewhere, however criminal it might be, it may find itself relegated to the background.
Music can’t make exceptions for lazy ears, though. As a taster for their forthcoming album, there’s more than enough here to feel tropical about.
