Following on in quick succession from the release of their DVD ‘A Cross The Universe’ which documented their world tour, ‘Tthhee Ppaarrttyy’ is Justice’s first single release since May last year, which begs the question: why is this being released now? Perhaps it is to keep up the band’s awareness. However, anyone who has witnessed the fantastic spectacle of the French band live will not need reminding.
Whilst there is much to question over the reasons behind this release, it is unquestionable that this is a fantastic song. Featuring voluptuous vocals from Uffie and a progressive accompaniment, this call to party has such a feel of expectation and delivers it certainly does. ‘Tthhee Ppaarrttyy’ highlights a number of Justice’s common traits. There is certainly a heavy rock influence to this, albeit rather low key, whilst the stop-start, looped backing from Justice provides a delightful contrast at times to the vocals that are an almost constant feature. It even contains a sample of American rappers ‘Three 6 Mafia’’s 2006 hit ‘Stay Fly’. This may not be a song on the same level as ‘D.A.N.C.E.’, ‘DVNO’ or ‘Phantom’ but it is undoubtedly a fantastic offering from Justice.
