Festivals Mike Skinner gives Bestival a final night surprise on the DIY stage at the House Of Vans
He also confirms during the set that The Streets will return to festivals next summer.
“I’m Daniel Bedingfield, your secret guest,” Mike Skinner quips, striding on stage at the House Of Vans to give the final night of Bestival quite the surprise. The Streets man is bringing his Tonga night to the festival’s Big Top later on, but stopped by the stage - hosted by DIY today - to perform an energetic, exuberant set just before sunset.
Mixing chart-toppers frm Cardi B’s ‘Bodak Yellow’ to Jay-Z and Kanye West’s Watch The Throne track ‘N***as In Paris’ in amongst a pulsating set of bass, it’s immediately clear that the party’s far from over at Bestival 2018. Mike also took the opportunity to confirm a very special return for next year’s festival season, revealing between songs that he’s bringing The Streets back to the festival circuit in summer 2019, after mixing ‘Fit But You Know It’ into the set. “I’m gonna be at the festivals next year, don’t worry…doing The Streets and shit.”
Not letting the energy drop for a second, Wildchild’s ‘Renegade Master’ and Lil Uzi Vert’s ‘All My Friends Are Dead’ are beefed up and given new versions that turn the House of Vans into a sweaty mass of bodies, ready to go through ‘til the early hours.
A souped-up version of the ever-anthemic ‘Blinded By The Lights’ sees him depart, and the final night of Bestival 2018 has seen something special.
