Luke Abbott - Free Migration
‘Free Migration’ is an exercise in liberation, and it’s pulled off with serious style.
By intention or otherwise, Luke Abbott’s titled his latest track very appropriately. The sounds of ‘Free Migration’ do indeed migrate - they roam around into severe, strange directions, filtered through an eerie but ever-expansive aesthetic that does nothing but dazzle. It’s a routine that’s best evidenced three minutes in, when the song appears to settle before bursting out with laser-like, sharp-dart effects. It’s like being sent into space and, as soon as gravity departs, being pummelled back down to earth.
Abbott’s always been an explorer, and it’s especially the case on new LP ‘Wysing Forest’. Here, he climbs the branches, swings from great heights and never looks down. ‘Free Migration’ is an exercise in liberation, and it’s pulled off with serious style.
Luke Abbott’s new album ‘Wysing Forest’ is out 23rd June on Border Community.
Featuring Yard Act, Death Cab For Cutie, Graham Coxon, Maisie Peters and more.
