Novella are soaring skywards like a beautiful butterfly which has just emerged from its cocoon. After spending the summer lying low and writing, they have returned refreshed and energised.
Buzz bands have appeared left, right and centre this year so it is easy to forget the fashion in which Novella burst onto the scene last year. ‘Mary’s Gun’ acts as a massive reminder to all as to why they demand so much attention. Throngs of bands are playing hip bars and putting out seven inches or cassettes on trendy independent labels but Novella are romping away from the rest with this breezy belter. When they launch into their full confident stride the track is a mix of infectious melodies and captivating vocals from Hollie. The opening salvo when soaring basslines meet the thunderous riffs provides a head rush second to none.
Novella are a band of impeccable taste and style which they have channelled into a reinvigorated sound.
