? Scissor Sisters? Bee Gees? What exactly is it that Kevin Barnes is channeling here?
The final track from forthcoming long player ‘Skeletal Lamping’, ‘Id Engager’ actually contains the words i’phallo-centric tyranny’, alongside a few ninjas and some ‘penetration punishment’. Not exactly what many would pick as a lead single, then, but with a dancefloor-baiting backing and a chorus from right out of the top of pile it does make sense.
Possibly more mental than anything Barnes has come up with before, this may split opinion right down the middle before ending with a rather ominous clatter. In our books, though, it’s more than alright - it’s bleedin’ fantastic.
