Of Montreal bring the sax appeal with ‘my fair lady’
It’s the second single from forthcoming record ‘Innocence Reaches,’ and we’ve got the first spin.
Hazy and swirling like a mass of fast-osmosing jelly, Of Montreal’s latest single might take its name from a wholesome musical about a Cockney girl who takes elocution lessons, but title aside, the two things are worlds apart.
‘my fair lady’ is the second single to come from new album ‘Innocence Reaches,’ out on August 12th. It comes after the first glimpse ‘it’s different for girls’.
For his new album, Kevin Barnes spent a lot of time wandering in different countries without a phrasebook, apparently. “Being in that place where no one looks at me twice and I can’t even understand the language was like entering a parallel universe,” said the Of Montreal man. “It was cathartic and inspiring to amputate myself from my normal life and feel like an individual outside of all the baggage and memories.”
We’ve got the first spin of ‘my fair lady’ below, premiering on DIY. Have a listen.
