Rose Elinor Dougall - Fallen Over
2-5 StarsWith the right song the necessary package may be more complete, but this track simply seems to fade into the background.
’s third single ‘Fallen Over’ fails to muster any real excitement or demonstrate any real innovation as it teams rather mediocre lyrics with a fairly average backing track. Admittedly Rose’s voice is pleasant, but other tracks (such as the sublimely pretty ‘Start / Stop / Synchro’) function as a better showcase for the 80s inspired Brightonite; here there just seems to be something missing.
There’s a hint of Kate Bush or Regina Spektor about this keyboard player but she appears to lack the charisma and eccentricity of the aforementioned, which are the very factors that make them so intoxicating. The lulling tones of Rose’s voice are far from offensive and with the right song the necessary package may be more complete, but overall this track simply seems to fade into the background.
