Sunless ’97 - Body Weather

Altogether a very interesting and arresting listen.

The approach that Sunless ’97 adopt seems to be to just throw all the sounds they are playing around with at the time together and see how it sounds when they sing over it. The vocals have more of a straightforward pattern to them and so the choruses and verses keep ‘Body Weather’ from sounding like the musical equivalent of an abstract patch quilt.

It’s altogether a very interesting and arresting listen, especially when the soulful sax kicks in towards the end. This is a band that simply don’t do obvious and they are all the better for it. B-side ‘Azul’ is a typical B-side, even more experimental and less radio friendly than the A-side. This single suggests Sunless ’97 aren’t going to stop playing around with sound any time soon.
