When The Pigeon Detectives released their first demos back in 2006, their sound - whilst predictable and most definitely not new - was fun. Their songs weren’t to be taken all that seriously, and you could easily sing and jump along.
From then on it went downhill. Their debut, ‘Wait For Me’, lacked the ‘rawness’ of the demos, and their second effort, ‘Emergency’, was just a bad copy of the first.
Unfortunately ‘Done In Secret’, their latest single, isn’t all that great either; it’s mediocre, motiveless and not even all that catchy. The guitars still sound like album one (though cleaner), singer Matt’s voice has become oddly mistakable, and the break doesn’t build up any suspense.
All in all it’s just really unsatisfying.
