The Vaccines - Post Break-Up Sex
B-side ‘We’re Happening’ (self-referential?!) is actually the better song here.

Aah, The Vaccines. A clever combination of a few indie brains that have sort of been around before - singer Justin Young has been known as Jay Jay Pistolet for a while, guitarist Freddie Cowan is the younger brother of Tom from The Horrors - they’re another of those incredibly hyped bands that’s become popular annoyingly fast.
Their new single, ‘Post Break-Up Sex’ sounds a little unmotivated (which is quite apt considering the title), with its languid chorus, daft lyrics and all the elements you’d expect from a better indie song (‘ah ah aahs’, sing-along-ability etc.). Yet, and this is what’s (positively) annoying - it’s catchy.
B-side ‘We’re Happening’ (self-referential?!) is actually the better song. Its melody may not be the most inventive and, just like the title track, it all sounds a bit familiar, but it really doesn’t matter. It’s even catchier, a little more varied, makes you wiggle your foot, and does exactly what it says on the tin.
