Touché Amoré - Whale Belly

‘Whale Belly’ is less straight forward than their previous works and it works perfectly to make us all the more excited for whatever it is that comes next.

Their first material to meet our ears since the release of their last album ‘Parting The Sea Between Brightness And Me’, Touché Amoré’s latest offering is instantly satisfying. Taken from their forthcoming split 7’ with The Casket Lottery, this track was always set to be special.

Building further upon the already solid foundations that they developed during the recording of their second full-length (okay, we know it’s technically their third, but no one counts their debut really…) ‘Whale Belly’ possesses a further intensity. Sounding almost like the bigger brother of the likes of ‘Wants/ Needs’, the drums are quick and sharp, the guitars ring wonderfully and Jeremy Bolm’s vocals sound as aggressively torn as ever.

Yet, at the same time, this is a track that’s a little different. Clocking in at just short of two minutes, their latest song is one of their longest to date and includes a series of twists and turns, working to emphasise further the battle that Bolm details within his lyrics. A quick-paced, cathartic piece though this is, ‘Whale Belly’ is less straight forward than their previous works and it works perfectly to make us all the more excited for whatever it is that comes next.
