RÉN unveils video for debut single, ‘Time’
NYC newcomer’s first work mixes funk and serene pop.
Last month, New York’s RÉN arrived on the scene with ‘Time’, a genre-hopping debut track produced by go-to deskman Luca Beccellati, from Yellerkin. Combining funk and don’t-give-a-fuck pop motifs, it landed like this year’s more underground answer to ‘Get Lucky’, riding high on Nile Rodgers’ coattails while forging its own path.
A new video has landed for the track, and it sees the NYC newcomer taking her debut to the streets.
Stop-motion shots see her taking on market stalls, wall murals and local landmarks in a blissful, summertime cruise. It only further affirms that Renée Orshan’s an artist that shuns convention by default - long may that continue.
Patrick Ryan Morris directs the clip, premiering on DIY below.
Featuring Yard Act, Death Cab For Cutie, Graham Coxon, Maisie Peters and more.
