L.A. Witch bring the dusty twang with ‘Brian’

Handily enough, L.A. Witch hail from Los Angeles (as the name perhaps suggests) and specialise in making the same sort of twanging, dust-flecked haze that hangs over the entire surreal city. Newly signed to the Seattle-based Suicide Squeeze Records, the trio’s new single is a slow-burning, reverb-addled stormer.

Slinking along under a cloak of fuzzed-up, hypnotic riffery, ‘Brian’ sounds a little like The Velvet Underground might’ve if they spent their days in a secret cave beneath the Hollywood Hills sign rather then bustling New York. Unhurried, nonchalant, and absolutely massive, it’s an ace first taster of their in-progess debut album. That’s apparently due later this year.
