Los Angeles electronic group Pollyn are sadly calling it a day, 14 years after the release of their debut EP. But if you’re going to bow out, you might as well do it in style with a member of Hot Chip in tow!
The trio are releasing a compilation of their works, ‘Here Lies Pollyn 2003-2016’ on 29th September, which is set to include a brand new cut featuring Alexis Taylor. ‘Findaway’ was actually initially written with Alexis in mind, who ended up loving the track so much that he decided to lend his sensitive vocals to it.
And why wouldn’t he? ‘Findaway’ sees him teaming up with Pollyn’s vocalist Genevieve Artadi across rolling beats and stabs of glitchy electronica. Across the top, the delicate nature of both Alexis and Genevieve’s voices glide, occasionally combining to form some beautiful harmonies.
Pollyn beatmaker Adam Jay Weissman says of the track: “We wrote ‘Findaway’ last year as we were releasing ‘DISTRESS SIGNALS’. We recorded a bunch of songs that were going to be a new non-Pollyn project with guest vocalists. We had Alexis in mind for this track from the very beginning. We are both big fans of Hot Chip and I thought Alexis and Genevieve’s vocals would sound great together, which they do. As we were putting the anthology together ‘Findaway’ sounded like it belonged with the rest of the Pollyn songs, so it ended up on there as the last official Pollyn song”.
