Neu Pick: Sister duo AYA show chart-mingling ambition on ‘Daughter’

Sister duo AYA show chart-mingling ambition on ‘Daughter’

The Londoners’ new track is today’s Neu Pick.

Every weekday, DIY’s new music know-it-all Neu brings you one essential new release to get obsessed with. Today’s Neu Pick comes from AYA.

London-based sister duo AYA have returned with new single ‘Daughter’, and it’s our Neu Pick for today.

An understated but still cutting track, the cut hints slowly but surely at chart-mingling ambition from the duo. As much the sound of a ’90s girl band as it a shiny, modern pop gem, intermittent, rattling guitars worm their way around the background, and it’s a properly immersive track.

Produced by Johan Hugo and Jacob Vetta, the track comes from the experience of the pair having a father with mental illness, and the emotional changes you can go through when watching a loved one suffer.

Listen to ‘Daughter’ below.
