Gorillaz are back, confirms Jamie Hewlett
Hewlett uploaded new illustrations of the members on Instagram.
Gorillaz member Jamie Hewlett has confirmed the group will return by posting new illustrations of the fictional members on his Instagram feed. The story was picked up overnight by U.S. website REVOLT.TV. Hewlett posted an image of bassist Murdoch which led to fans leaving questions on the comments section of the upload. Hewlett simply answered to one comment, “Yes. Gorillaz Returns.”
Hewlett then uploaded new illustrations of member Noodle (fictional guitarist) followed by two colour drawings of Murdoch. Cofounding member Damon Albarn told The Sydney Morning Herald last year that he was “in the process of reactivating Gorillaz for a 2016 release”.
Gorillaz’s last release was ‘The Fall’, an entire album recorded by Damon Albarn on his iPad during their American tour for 2010’s ‘Plastic Beach’. Since then the group have been on hiatus with Albarn working on projects that include Rocket Juice & The Moon and his debut solo album ‘Everyday Robots’.
